Natural Connections for Learning

While Sally will be greatly missed at Grove Kindergarten, we are thrilled she is now able to share her 'magic' with other education professionals. She has been the driver of the nature play program at Grove and is always providing new learning opportinities for the children incorporating the natural world.

In 2016 the Grove Kindergarten produced a film, demonstrating the significant impact the learning program has had on the students.

Thank you Sally for all you have done for the Kindergarten and our children.

As previous Director of Grove Kindergarten, Sally was instrumental in narrating the Kindy's nature play philosophy to communicate with parents and families. The video made by Living Stories can be viewed here.

Thanks very much for sending Sally to us. She is a real gem!

The staff and I got so much out of her visit and she was able to provide some very practical advice regarding moving forward and building on our amazing new yard. Sally has a wealth of knowledge and shared her experience in a manner that was very empowering and respectful.

Some of our staff team also took the opportunity to visit Sally at [Grove] Kindergarten on Saturday which really helped us to build on our understandings. We have some key actions moving forward and while we have begun working on them we understand some of them will take some time.

Thank you for hosting the Singapore delegation last week. We left deeply impressed with the way you created the outdoor learning space at Grove that strikes the balance between being natural and intentional to children’s learning. It takes the skill of a master to achieve that balance, and we feel privileged to have learnt from one.

Our family have always enjoyed being outside and active, but while my son attended the Grove Kindergarten’s Early Learning Centre we became increasingly aware of the benefit of nature play. Through their curriculum, play spaces and activities such as film screenings, Sally Cook shared her expertise and experience with families such as ours. We are now living in Canada, and set ourselves the goal of having as many adventures together outdoors as possible. Thanks for planting the seed!

Sally's passion for integrating nature into children's learning is demonstrated in everything she does. She has assisted Wild Imagination in creating an environment that is both great fun, but provides deep learning opportunities that don't 'look' like learning to the children. Her deep rooted understanding of the importance of nature in children's lives is one of the many reasons why we are so pleased to have Sally as part of our advisory team.
